Women of the Port – Meet SLASPA’s Female Senior Managers

In commemoration of International Women’s Day which is being celebrated on March 8th this year, we take a break from our trivia series and bring to you “Women of the Port” in this week’s edition of Portfolio. SLASPA has a team of highly qualified and experienced personnel and quite a few are women. Did you know that our Financial Controller, Deputy Financial Controller, Director of Information Systems, Director of Marketing & Product Development, Legal Officer/Corporate Secretary, Manager Employee Compensation and Manager of Employee Development are all women and form part of the Senior Management Team?

Daniella Martelly, Financial Controller holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of the West Indies and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Ms. Martelly is the head of the Finance and Accounts Department, and has been instrumental in a number of initiatives since rejoining SLASPA in 1998, as a Senior Accountant. Ms. Marcellina St. Edward-Preville, Deputy Financial Controller, holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and she is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).  Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the Accounting Department, maintaining the integrity of the accounting system and contributing to financial analyses at the Authority.

Grace Michel, Director of Information Systems, holds an Executive Diploma in Management, is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and has been with the organisation from 1984 where her first position was Systems Support Officer. As Director of Information Systems she is responsible for ensuring that all investments in hardware and software are aligned to the business objectives of the Authority and that functional and cost effective Information Technology solutions are deployed throughout the organization.

Dona Regis, Director of Marketing & Product Development, is a Professional Certified Marketer and Certified Customer Service Trainer. Ms. Regis holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), a Master of Business Administration (MBA), is also an affiliate Member of the UK-based Chartered Institute of Marketing, Public Relations Society of America and the International Public Relations Association. Ms. Regis is responsible for SLASPA’s marketing and communication activities including image building, product and market development, corporate communications, media relations, brand management, port promotions, industry research, customer service and the management of La Place Carenage and Iyanola Executive Lounge.

Danine Jones, Legal Officer/Corporate Secretary, is a member of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Bar and the St. Lucia Bar Association. She holds a Bachelor of Law (Hons) and is a graduate of the Hugh Wooding Law School. Ms. Jones has responsibility for the management of SLASPA’s Legal Affairs and also serves as the organization’s Corporate Secretary. Nadia Alcide is the Manager of Employee Compensation and is responsible for a multitude of human resource activities within the organisation. Mrs. Alcide joined the organization in 1996 as Assistant Human Resource Officer and has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (BCom) in Human Resource Management.

Beverly Ann Dulcie, joined SLASPA in 2001 as the Training Officer and is now the Manager of Employee Development where she is responsible for all aspects of Employee Development which encompasses Training and Performance Management. Ms. Dulcie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Upper Class Honours) in English Literature and Linguistics and a Master of Science (Msc) in Human Resource Management. Additionally, Ms. Dulcie has a Certificate in Employee Development, is a registered member of the International Society of Performance Management and also holds a Certificate in Performance Improvement.
