SLASPA Trains its Staff in Food and Beverage

Castries – Thursday, August 18, 2011 – The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) in collaboration with the Caribbean Institute of International Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts facilitated an Introductory Food and Beverage: Restaurant Server Training for twelve employees of the CIP Lounge at the Hewanorra International Airport. This workshop ran from August 3rd, 2011 to August 20th, 2011 and was held by Debbie’s Restaurant in Laborie.

During the training, the Caribbean Institute of International Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts taught staff how to: improve on their technical culinary skills. Participants will cover a range of courses from meal preparation to wine and buffet service. This coure comes with it a very hands on practical aspect whereby students will be given an opportunity to practise and showcase the various aspects of food preparation.

Speaking at a brief interview, Ms. Beverly Dulcie, Manager‐Employee Development at SLASPA said, “This is the first time that we are offering this type of training to our staff. We are very enthusiastic about providing our employees with the necessary culinary skills that will certainly upscale our staff to allow them to provide greater quality of service at our CIP Lounge.”

Overall, the training is expected to give CIP employees an opportunity to obtain an international overview to hospitality training.
