On the afternoon of Friday September 2, 2016 the closing ceremony for the Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCO) Refresher Training was held at the VIP Lounge at HIA. This was the culmination of two (2) consecutive groups of training sessions which were held from August 22, 2016 to August 26, 2016 and August 29, 2016 to September 2, 2016 respectively. Twenty two (22) ATCOs received the Training, which was conducted by Mr. Cary Price, Chief Instructor (Ag) of the Trinidad & Tobago Civil Aviation Training Centre (TTCATC).

The proceedings were hosted by Ms. Beverly Dulcie, Manager-Administration and in attendance were; Mr. Ben Emmanuel - Senior Manager- Strategic Initiatives, Mrs. Sharon Narcisse-Senior Manager –Human Resources, Mr. Lambert Remy – Head of Airport Departments, Mrs. Perl Tobias- Training Officer, Ms. Amy Charles – Manager Air Traffic Services (Ag), Mr. Martin President- Deputy Chief of Ports Police-South, Mr. Mark Gustave and Ms. Josephine Arlette – Assistant Airport Managers-HIA and members of the Administrative Staff HIA. Last but not least, in attendance were Sixteen (16) ATCOs and Instructor Mr. Carey Price.

After the opening prayer by ATCO Mr. Zane Auguste, the ATCOs were addressed in sequence by Mr. Emmanuel, Mrs. Narcisse, Mr. Remy and Mr. Price. They all touched on similar themes of the necessity of the training and the hope that the ATCOs would use their aptitude with the application of the newly acquired knowledge and the right attitude to improve performance. Mr. Price stressed that the true success of the training would be evident and could only be evaluated in the quality of work out put going forward; and he, like SLASPA, would be checking in periodically to monitor that progress.  He stated that based on his assessment of the Training sessions, SLASPA had a great group of ATCOs with extensive skill in many areas. He advised that SLASPA should tap into that resource area. Mr. Price also extended gratitude to the Administrative Staff for the excellent administrative support provided for the duration of the workshop.

Subsequently, there was a presentation of Certificates to ATCOs who were in attendance at the ceremony.

The ceremony was brought to close with a warm and witty vote of thanks given by ATCO, Mrs. Gale Williams-Dalsou.
