SLASPA ready for Holiday Barrel Trade
Castries – Friday, December 2, 2016 – The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) wishes to inform its valued customers that all is place to facilitate the Barrel Trade this Holiday Season. SLASPA and the Customs and Excise Department are working jointly to ensure that customers are able to clear their goods as efficiently as possible.
The Authority, as in years past has opened up Shed 7 to handle the excess of barrel clearance demand over the holiday season; furthermore SLASPA’s Port and Customs personnel are stationed onsite to ensure that customers are able to clear their barrels in a well-organized manner-improving customer service delivery. With a continuous mandate to innovate and improve the ease of doing business, SLASPA has employed a dedicated Clerk to assist with data entry of trucker information and has stationed a Port Police Officer to deal specifically with issuance of passes for port visitors.
On the days approaching the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays the Port will also be implementing extended working hours; which will not only be implemented on weekends, but also during the week to facilitate the clearing and delivery of goods.
We urge customers before coming to the Port to make certain that they received all documents from their agents and to ensure they bring along their national Identification or ID Cards. SLASPA urges customers to take note of the following tips when clearing barrels:
