SLASPA Offers Extended Hours for Clearing of Goods

Castries – Wednesday, December 18, 2013 – The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) in conjunction with the Customs and Excise Department, wishes to inform its valued customers of extended operating hours at Port Castries and Port Vieux Fort during the Holiday Season.  The Castries cargo sheds 6 & 7 and Port Vieux Fort will be open on the following dates and times to facilitate the clearing and delivery of goods:

-          From 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd and Saturday 28thDecember, 2013

-          From 8:00a.m. – 6:00p.m. on Monday 23rd and 30th December, 2013

-          And open during the lunch hour (12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.) from Thursday, 19th December, 2013 until further notice.

 “As we have done in previous years, we have extended our operating hours to aid in the facilitation of clearing and collection of goods at the seaports. We would like to encourage customers to visit our website www.slaspa.com and download the Guidebook with step-by-step instructions on clearing goods. In addition, we would like to remind them that before they come to the port, that they ensure all of the necessary documents to clear goods have been received from their agent and walk with photo ID for example National ID card, Passport or Driver’s License and that children under 12 years of age will not be allowed on the port compound” indicated Mr. Adrian Hilaire, Director of Seaports in a brief interview.

Starting on December 19th, 2013, customers can tune into the local radio and television stations for Port and Boarding Pass which will provide them with more tips when visiting the airports and seaports. Customers also have the option of contacting a broker to clear goods on their behalf or utilizing the Broker available at the Port.
