SLASPA Launches Tea Time Jazz 2010 - Music, Art, Heart

Castries – Wednesday April 21st, 2010 – Organizers, Performers and Sponsors of the popular Tea Time Jazz gathered today at La Place Carenage Duty Free Shopping Mall to officially launch this event which has become one of the most popular activities on the St. Lucia Jazz Festival Calendar of Events. This year’s Tea Time Jazz was launched under the theme “Music, Art, Heart” and will again feature local performances combined with a festive yet intimate environment where tea, coffee and a wide variety of snacks are served to patrons free of charge.

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), is the presenting sponsor of this event. “For the thirteenth year running, SLASPA is indeed proud to again present Tea Time Jazz. As the agency responsible for the Island’s points of entry, we are happy to be part of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival. Part of our mandate is to also contribute to the socio-economic development of St. Lucia. We believe that through our sponsorship of activities such as Tea Time Jazz we are providing an avenue for the display of local talent, creating business opportunities for local entrepreneurs and provide entertainment to both visitors and residents.” said Dona Regis, SLASPA’s Director of Marketing and Product Development.

Susanna Isaac, Manager, La Place Carenage, also a singer and musician, used her melodious voice to announce the line-up. “Now it’s Tea Time Jazz at La Place Carenage, It is Shayne Ross, singer and songwriter; Zionomi, reggae and freestyler; Music, Art and Heart at La Place Carenage; It is Tea Time Jazz at La Place Carenage; G. F. Quartet and soulful, Shantel Joseph; Pulsating music played by LIME Diamond Steel Band; Don't miss the groves right here, 5th & 6th of May.” Crooned Ms. Isaac in her own Jazz
creation.

“I’ve always wanted to perform at Tea Time Jazz and being afforded this opportunity is great for me and the band I am performing with; it is also a great avenue to showcase my music, as well as, the music and talent of other local performers. I would like to say thank you to Ms. Susanna Isaac and her team and SLASPA for bringing Tea Time Jazz to us once again.” Said Shayne Ross one of the performers present at the launch.

Other Sponsors of Tea Time Jazz include LUCELEC, LIME, M&C Insurance Brokers, Joseph’s Shipping, Radio Caribbean International, Consolidated Food Ltd. and Renwick and Company Ltd. SLASPA took the opportunity to recognize their contributions and presented certificates of appreciation to each sponsor. In keeping with the theme, SLASPA also treated guests and the press to a complimentary tour of the Animation Center and also announced a reduced rate of $5.00 to visit the Desmond Skeete Animation
Center.

Tea Time Jazz will be held on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th May 2010 at La Place Carenage from 3.00 p.m.
