SLASPA Facilitates the Yachting Trade

Recently, on our very own Port Call radio show on Radio St. Lucia’s The Agenda, we had a very interesting discussion on the Yachting Sector in St. Lucia, which was broadcasted live from the Rodney Bay Marina. We thought this week, we would share more about this sector with you.

St. Lucia boasts two world class yacht marinas – Rodney Bay and Marigot Bay – both of which are official ports of entry into the island.

IGY Rodney Bay Marina Ltd., at the north‐western tip of St. Lucia and north of Castries, is a pleasure craft marina providing facilities for all categories of pleasure crafts. The marina is home to two annual premier yachting events – the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) held every December and the Europa Round‐the‐World rally held every other January. IGY‐Rodney Bay Marina Ltd. (RBM) offers yachters 232 slips and a 4.5 acre boatyard, as well as excellent accommodations for as many as 25 mega yachts at one time with up to 200 feet with drafts of up to 14 feet and is also a well‐protected hurricane‐safe haven. Onshore, the property offers an excellent recreational area with a swimming pool as well as outstanding
retail, restaurant and entertainment options.

Marigot Bay is a completely sheltered anchorage with a breathtaking bay and a small marina. It is the anchor point for some chartered boats and catamarans and is also frequently used as a hurricane hole. Marigot Bay currently has 40 moors and the docks in the south east corner of the bay can accommodate yachts up to a 16ft draft, and have already seen yachts in excess of 160ft LOA using the facilities, in addition, the mega yacht capacity is 15 – 20 at any given time. Stern‐to and alongside berthing is also
available.

In 2010, IGY Rodney Bay Marina welcomed 6,383 yachts of various sizes, bringing over 32,000 visitors and Marigot Marina welcomed 2,063 yachts and over 10,000 passengers.
