SLASPA Encourages Boating Safety

Castries – Wednesday, November 23, 2011– The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) in a ceremony earlier this year, recognized the achievements of incoming and outgoing scholarship holders. At this ceremony, the Employee Development Section made the announcement that SLASPA would also be offering two Tertiary Level scholarships tenable at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College both Northern and Southern Division. These scholarships will be awarded each year to two children of SLASPA’s Staff who performed remarkably well at the CXC Examinations.

In November, two scholarships were awarded to each to two deserving students. Mr. Fidel Michel, son of Ms. Grace Michel, Director of Information Systems and Mr. Junious Asson son of Mr. Rudy Asson, Port Police Officer stationed at Hewanorra International Airport. Fidel successfully completed eight (8) CXC subjects, (three distinctions) gaining him admission to Division of Arts, Science and General Studies at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and Junious successfully completed ten (10) CXC subjects gaining him admission to Vieux Fort Post‐Secondary.

“I believe that in any country, the most important resource is its people and what better way to develop a country’s greatest resource but by investing in the education of its youth. These scholarships demonstrate SLASPA’s dedication and commitment to the youth of the Saint Lucia by offering additional scholarships to the top achievers of employees’ children at SLASPA. We intend to take a keen interest in these young people and will consistently monitor their performance throughout the two years and provide assistance to both parents and students when needed.” said Ms. Beverly Dulcie, Manager Employee Development.

Congratulations to Fidel and Junious wishing them success in this next step of their journey.
